Board of Directors

The German International School of Dallas is a non-profit 501c3 organization, governed by the Board of Directors. The Board is responsible of hiring the director, the financial oversight of the school, and the short and long term strategic planning to ensure the continuous success of the operation. The Board holds regular meetings throughout the year to fulfill its duties.

Andreas K. Bremer, President

Andreas K. Bremer was raised and educated in Germany. He, his wife, Nicola, and their three children have been living in the United States since 1990. During his time in Atlanta he helped form a number of organizations including the German Church of Atlanta. Andreas has worked extensively in the finance, banking and real estate sectors serving stints at the Commerzbank AG, and McKinsey & Co. Since 2002 he has served as CEO & President of International Capital LLC, a Dallas based commercial real estate corporation. Andreas served as Director of the Texas Warburg Chapter of the American Council on Germany in Dallas and serves as Honorary Consul of Federal Republic of Germany in Dallas.

Nicola Bremer, Treasurer

Nicola Bremer, was raised and educated in Wiesbaden, Germany. She worked for the Dresdner Bank in Germany and New York. Currently she serves on the board of several nonprofit organizations in the Dallas Metroplex, and provides strong financial and governance experience to the boards she serves. Nicola served as the Human Resource chair and member of the board of directors of the Christ Lutheran Child development center, which provides care and educational services for more than 100 children. Currently she’s working as a financial assistant for Southern Methodist University.

Meredith Ladd, Secretary

Meredith Ladd has represented numerous public and private clients, in-house and via a private firm, for almost 20 years. Meredith’s practice emphasizes state and local governmental law, including the areas of general representation. Meredith previously represented a number of Texas municipalities, including Arlington, College Station, Dallas, Forney, Flower Mound, McKinney, and Little Elm, as an assistant city attorney. Meredith now represents the City of Carrollton exclusively.  Meredith is the mother of three children, including a ten-year old who attended GISD.  Meredith is also on the board of JHG-Texas.

Sandra Bauer

Sandra was born and grew up in Ingolstadt, Germany where she received a degree in Travel & Tourism. In 2005 she and her husband moved to the U.S. due to his job.  They lived in Minnesota and Maryland before settling down in Texas in 2007.   They have two daughters, both of whom love school and are heavily involved in soccer.  Sandra worked in a Preschool, both in the classroom as well as in management, before coming to International Capital in 2011.  She is now IC’s Administrative Assistant as well as the Point of Contact for German and U.S. investors.

Peter Braster

Mr. Braster was born and raised on Long Island New York in a bi-lingual home. Peter’s mother and all four grandparents were born in Germany. He was blessed to spend his yearly childhood vacations in Germany visiting his mother’s family in Heppenheim (Bergstraße). Peter remains in contact with his many German relatives.

Professionally, Mr. Braster holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University. He has over 30 years of public and private experience. Peter began his career by working on large transportation projects including several highway, airport, and light rail systems in New York and California. Today, he works for the City of Plano as the Director of Special Projects. Peter is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the North Texas Urban Land Institute TOD Product Council, and the International Economic Development Council.

Marcus Edmonds

Marcus currently focuses efforts on helping philanthropic initiatives in the Dallas community and rearing his 2 young boys. He currently serves on the Boards of the German International School of Dallas and JHG Texas. Marcus also managed the Community Outreach Initiatives of the Dallas Cup and Heart of Dallas Bowl game to coordinate game time opportunities with local non profits. Marcus was a founding Board Member of the Promising Youth Alliance, serving high risk youths in Dallas. and the Heart of Dallas, focused on combating the homelessness in out community and supporting 1st responders.

In his professional career Marcus worked at Investment Banks in New York City where he managed portfolios of alternative investments. Previously Marcus worked in finance in the energy industry in Houston. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and a big Longhorn supporter. Marcus resides in Dallas with his family. He has a much much better half that makes everything work,  2 boys fluent in German thanks to the German International School, and 2 Great Pyrenees. He is a German native from Kaiserslautern Germany but has called the Unites States his home for over 2 decades.

Marcel Mettlen

Marcel Mettlen grew up in a tiny village situated in the South of the German-speaking part of Belgium. He studied in Brussels where he earned a master’s degree in molecular biology and human genetics, and a Ph.D. degree in biomedical sciences. In 2006, he moved to San Diego, CA, where he met his now wife Brenda (who was born and raised in Mexico City). In 2012, Marcel was recruited to the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where he currently works as an Assistant Professor in Cell Biology.

Marcel and Brenda have two boys that grow up tri-lingual: German, Spanish and English. Both kids attended the German school before being accepted into the Spanish/English dual language immersion program in Coppell. In their free time, they enjoy the outdoors and given their love for soccer, the 2 boys are strongly involved in the local soccer association, where Marcel serves as coach and board member.
